LOCAL HAPPENINGS

Cairns has welcomed Flynn, a vibrant five-star hotel complete with 311 rooms. As the third opening in the Crystalbrook Collection’s hotel portfolio in Cairns (joining hotels Riley and Bailey), Flynn will include a spa set within a lush tropical garden, a dramatic glass-walled pool, plus three different dining options.
Further south, innovative temporary hotel the Wine Down Pop-Up, will be stopping off at Montalto in the Mornington Peninsula. The temporary retreat will be open for bookings from 3 April to 2 May.
Guests will enjoy uninterrupted vineyard views from the boutique hotel rooms, which are fashioned from disused shipping containers and are fully solar powered. Guests can explore the region in an electric BMW i3, or take some time out by relaxing in the hotel’s private hot tub.
Back in Melbourne’s CBD the Lancemore Crossley St will open in mid-April, following a $10 million facelift for the 113-room property, overseen by award-winning architecture and design firm Carr.
